In my travels, I remember reading Buddhist teachings that spoke about each of us being a wave in the ocean of consciousness. In modern society there is so much focus on the self: self-improvement, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-doubt. The overindulgence of our ego distorts our perception of independence hence creating a false sense of self. In truth, while we manifest our independence, we are still part of the ocean of humanity and if we don’t help each other then we will all sink. Compassion and unity will connect us to build a better world
